The developer Docker example still pins 0.16.1. Its ServerGamePort is 27005 while Compose maps 27004 UDP and 27005 TCP/UDP. These are template examples, not mandatory-port guarantees. Preserve worlds, passwords and backups; measure capacity.

- The official 0.17 announcement improved automatic discovery without prior manual forwarding. The old developer Compose and JSON differ on ports; they are not mandatory-port rules for current builds. Use the game browser; this site does not implement current queries. Prefer +server.config and preserve WorldName and passwords.
- How do I install a dedicated Colony Survival server?
- Stop and back up gamedata/savegames, config and mods. After anonymous SteamCMD login, app_update 748090 -beta public validate explicitly returns to the default branch. The old 0.16.1 template is not a current-build guarantee. Use +server.config for server.config.json, preserving worlds and passwords. validate does not test recovery.
