Portal Knights defaults to port 16365 — unusual among this kind of game, which is exactly why copy-pasting a generic 27015 or 7777 tutorial always fails. The server is a Windows binary (pk_dedicated_server.exe), so Linux needs Wine plus xvfb; behaviour is driven by server_config.json. Change the default admin password before anything else.

Server notes
The dedicated server ships with the main game (SteamCMD uses the main appid 374040) and needs a logged-in Steam account to pull. There are three separate passwords — admin, user and guest — so do not stop after changing the admin one.
