server/<identity>/server.cfgserver/<identity>/users.cfgserver/<identity>/oxide/config/RustDedicated_Data/Managed/The dedicated server app id is 258550 — not the 252490 of the retail game — and SteamCMD pulls it anonymously. The classic port trio is 28015/UDP for the game, 28016/TCP for RCON and 28017/UDP for the Steam query. When you run a second instance, step every port up by 5 (Facepunch's own recommendation) so you do not collide with Steam's adjacent services. Two setup traps bite everybody: on Linux you must create a steamclient.so symlink inside RustDedicated_Data/Plugins/x86_64 pointing at the libsteam_api.so in that same directory, or startup fails with "steamclient not found"; and once you have a server.cfg you must launch with +server.identity so the config is not written into the default directory. Rust forces a wipe on the first Thursday of every month, and clients must match the server build exactly after each update, so hook your update script to wipe day. Mods go through oxide/uMod (unzip Oxide.Rust.zip into server/<identity>/oxide/), plugins in oxide/plugins, settings in oxide/config. The RCON password lives in server.cfg as rcon.password — never leave it blank and never keep port 28016 on its default.
