Squad 44 (formerly Post Scriptum) hosting in short: the dedicated-server appid is 746200 (Squad 44 Dedicated Server, oslist=windows, linux, native on both platforms so no Wine is involved) while the client 736220 is Windows only. Version anchor: the client public buildid 21989397 (2026-02-18 19:59:42 UTC) sits 42 seconds from the official announcement "Hotfix v2.6.1 - Changelog" (2026-02-18 19:59:00 UTC), while the dedicated-server public buildid 21989442 was stamped 56.2 minutes earlier the same day; because the announcement uses a game version and appinfo uses Steam buildids, the two numbering systems cannot be equated, so confidence is recorded as inferred. Ports come in pairs: the game port and its +1, the query port and its +1, four UDP ports in total, plus TCP 21114 for RCON, which stays off while the password is empty per the official comment. Two default sets are shown side by side: LinuxGSM uses 10027/10037 while a real deployment and the wiki it quotes use 7787/7788 and 27165/27166. Config lives in PostScriptum/ServerConfig/, where 11 official files are shipped including a Server.cfg with 16 keys; the official comments mark IsLANMatch as NOT FUNCTIONAL and RecordDemos as Not fully functional, and AllowCommunityAdminAccess plus AllowDevProfiling default to true. Rename leftovers: the executable is still PostScriptumServer.* and the game folder is still PostScriptum/. AMP does not support this game, and neither the sibling game Squad template (appid 403240) nor its 12 exclusive keys may be reused here.

Squad 44 (formerly Post Scriptum) Ports & Protocols

Port Protocol Purpose
10027 UDP The game port for client connections; the LinuxGSM default
10028 UDP Game port +1: real deployments and the (unreachable) wiki both require the pair to be open
10037 UDP The server-browser query port; the LinuxGSM default
10038 UDP Query port +1: the same pairing rule
21114 TCP The RCON port (TCP); RCON stays off while the password is empty

Server notes

First, the rename leftovers come in three layers: appinfo already reads Squad 44 Dedicated Server, yet the executable is still PostScriptumServer.exe / PostScriptumServer.sh, the game folder is still PostScriptum/, and LinuxGSM still calls the game Post Scriptum. This site used to compress all three into "the server install directory is still Post Scriptum Dedicated Server", which is now stated precisely from first-hand sources. Second, there are two competing default port sets and both need paired ports: LinuxGSM squad44server uses 10027 (game) and 10037 (query), while the real deployment image and the wiki it quotes use 7787/7788 and 27165/27166; RCON is TCP 21114 and the official Rcon.cfg comment states verbatim that leaving the password empty keeps RCON turned off. Which set the binary defaults to cannot be proven from any reachable official source, so both are shown without choosing. Third, the official hosting documentation was unreachable this round: the five sitemap pages of joinsquad44.com contain no hosting page (/dedicated-server and /server-hosting both 404), the squad44.fandom.com target of docsUrl is a community wiki (not official) and returned 000 twice, and steamcommunity also returned 000 - so "which of the config file and the command line wins", "what the +1 ports are for" and "the full RCON command list" are all marked unverifiable rather than invented. Fourth, there is a query-protocol gap: LinuxGSM uses querytype=protocol-valve (hence steam_a2s here) but node-gamedig has no squad44 entry (it lists only the sibling game squad with a custom protocol), so gamedig-based third-party tools may fail to query this game. Fifth, the server license (License.cfg) is an optional feature per the LinuxGSM module wording, its documentation link belongs to the sibling game community wiki, and the shipped file is 0 bytes. Sixth, do not copy the sibling game Squad configuration: Squad has 12 keys this game does not (PublicQueueLimit, MapRotationMode, UseVoteLayer and friends), MaxPlayers defaults to 100 there versus 40 here, there are 21 permission levels versus 20 and 7 Rcon keys versus 5, and the appid and folder names differ; AMP supports Squad only, not this game. Seventh, enabling MapVoting requires MapVoting.cfg, which is absent from the 11 officially shipped files; this site generates it in the format used by a real deployment repo and labels that source. Eighth, hard Linux facts: the real image requires the mounted directory to be owned by UID/GID 10000 (its entrypoint touches a probe file and exits with a chown hint on failure), UE4 needs steamclient.so (the image keeps the Steam SDK at /home/steam/.steam/sdk64), LinuxGSM records glibc 2.17 as the minimum, and shutdown in practice is SIGINT (kill -2) with a 90 second grace period because no official shutdown command was reachable.
